Founded in the western suburbs of Chicago in 2002 by Jim Urasky, Safe Way Traction originally got its start as Lift Tech LLC – selling and repairing patient lifts to the healthcare market and then stair lifts to both commercial and home markets. Realizing the great need for slip and fall prevention, Lift Tech transitioned into Safe Way Traction – offering its customers a wide variety of quality, cost effective safety tapes, stair treads, and related products to help keep them "on the path of safety.”
